At fudges our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint is ongoing and our latest project is our packaging

Moving from PVC to Polypropylene(PP)

We are moving from PVC, which uses environmentally unfriendly chlorine to Polypropylene, a material which takes much less energy to produce and process. As a result all trays will have a 'PP' logo on the bottom to enable sorting during recycling.

This changeover requires significant investment in our packing facility. We are changing to black acetate trays for a more premium look and there will be a size change to our cartons, which will also be easier to open.

It's just the first step.

We are also investigating bio-material as a next step in this project. We are currently in the midst of trials with different materials and products, and we will keep you up to date with our progress. In the meantime the move to polypropylene will facilitate a switch to bio-material once we are absolutely happy with the trials.
